From Trygve Wakenshaw, the award-winning master behind smash hit SQUIDBOY, comes the highly anticipated new physical comedy, KRAKEN playing Wellington 6- 10 May and Auckland 13 – 17 May as part of Comedy Fest.
Last year’s critically acclaimed SQUIDBOY (which sees a return season in Auckland this NZICF) took the festival circuit by storm, winning Best Comedy at Auckland Fringe 2013, selling out at the 2013 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Perth Fringe World; and Total Theatre Award and Artrage Theatre Award nominations.
KRAKEN revives Wakenshaw’s singular style, using mime, mouthsounds and the imagination of its audience to create a “masterful...wonderfully absurd” (Fest) one-man show. As a result, Trygve has taken out the Underbelly Edinburgh Award at the Adelaide Fringe Festival.
The Underbelly Edinburgh Award
Underbelly is one of the most respected festival organisers in the UK and one of the largest venues at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and they are looking for the best of Adelaide Fringe to join them in 2014. The winner of the Underbelly Edinburgh Award will be produced by Underbelly at the 2014 Edinburgh Festival Fringe with production costs covered up to £7,000. Eligible productions must be a UK premier (not performed in the UK more than six times) and can be from any country.
